November 1st, I was truly blown away when I saw Lauren Sanderson for the first time in concert. Nothing could have prepared me for how raw and beautiful Lauren’s talent is.
Lauren came out from the right stage and hyped the crowd to perform the night’s first song, ‘Tongue Tied.’ Lauren sang right into her smash hit, ‘IDC At All.’ I have never seen a crowd sing every word so loud, and I have been to many, many concerts. She was huffing and puffing by the end of the bridge and had not finished the song. I was mesmerized and could not take my eyes away as someone put so much effort and energy into their art and craft.
She moved on from it perfectly, singing her next song of the night ‘Girl From the Internet.’ Before the music begins, Lauren asks if anybody has ever fallen in love with anybody from the internet. I actually start jumping up and down, screaming while holding my girlfriend’s hand. We have been together for almost 6 years and met online. It indeed was a full circle moment. Next, she moved into the ‘Hotel Room’ and stayed more center stage for a change instead of jumping all around the stage.
Lauren jumped into ‘Queen Bee’ and had the crowd screaming. She grabbed her guitar for the first time of the night and gave the crowd a taste of what she could do, and boy, was it great (even though she messed up the first time). Lauren ripped her hat right off her head and said, “Let me try that shit again.” She puts the guitar down and starts singing ‘HYPOCRITE,’ the crowd goes wild, screaming their heads off. Lauren dances and jumps around the stage, and the crowd loves it. As the song ends, it sounds like all hell has broken loose. Lauren is doing hair flips and harmonizes at the end of the song. After this, she jumped into ‘allison’ while standing at the microphone center stage the entire song.
Lauren stands at the microphone for the first time during the show to sing ‘Frustrated.’ However, staying at the microphone doesn’t last long as she walks around the stage. You can tell she is putting her entire being into this song. She launches into her next song ‘Electric’ which has strobe lights going off throughout. Lauren also gives the fans in the front row some love by getting down and high fiving them.
She slowed it down for the next song, “Is It Normal?’ and let me tell you this is my absolute favorite song of hers, well one of them. Lauren sounded so angelic during the beginning of the song. There’s a small rap in this and she went through it so flawlessly. Come the second verse Lauren put her arms up the sway and the crowd followed swiftly. She walked around the stage, touched fans hands, but mostly sang her heart out. Lauren sped it back up for ‘Thirsty’ where she just danced and walked around the stage the entire song.
Lauren jumped (actually) into ‘Upset’. Get it, because she was jumping around the entire song. She did have the entired crowd jumping with her which honestly I thought was impressive. Her next song had the crowd impressing Lauren by how loud we sang right away. She was singing ‘Play a Part’ and we loved it and sang every single word back just louder. Next was another crowd favorite, ‘But I like It’ and trust me the crowd just kept getting louder which I didn’t even think was possible.
Lauren had her drummer come out and hold the beat to ‘The Only One’ which is something different that everything else. After this, she started singing ‘hi’ which is the cutest song. She walked back and forth on the stage while singing. Then, Lauren started singing her hit she has out with G-Flip ‘Gay 4 Me’ and the crowd went wild just one last time. Lauren walked back and forth on stage while carefully looking at the crowed while singing each and every word so carefully. She splashed the crowd with water during the second time the chorus came on and the crowd went wild.
Lauren closed the show out with ‘Therapy’ rapping her life away. Lauren got the crowd going wild even at the very end of her show, hands up, waving, hair waving. It was truly amazing. I have never seen a better show or better performance in a venue like that. I was blown away and can not stop talking about the event or Lauren. If you get the chance to go see her, trust me, she’s worth it!
